Ear infection (Otitis Externa)
Pain, redness, pus coming out of the ear are symptoms of otitis externa. It may be seen along with fungus or wax in the outer ear. Removal of the fungus or wax is important for rapid recovery. Antibiotics, medicines for pain relief and ear drops are given.

Ear infection (Otitis Media)
It is common in small children suffering from cough and cold. It presents as sudden ear pain starting commonly at night. Antibiotics, medication for pain relief, cough and cold is given. In adults, repeated pus discharge is common. Surgery (tympanoplasty) may be needed.

Hearing loss or Deafness
Causes include wax, infections, fluid behind the ear drum, or nerve weakness in old age. Treatment depends on cause: medicines, surgery, or hearing aids.

Fluid behind the Ear Drum (Eustachian Tube Dysfunction)
Blocked sensation, hearing loss, clicking sound, itching are common. Medicines are given first, some patients may need a grommet insertion.

Facial Palsy
Weakness of face muscles causes drooping, watering eyes, difficulty puffing cheeks. Bell’s Palsy is common and usually recovers in 3–6 weeks with treatment.

Vertigo / Giddiness
Sensation of spinning or imbalance. BPPV is common, treated with Epley’s Maneuver. Other causes need specific treatment.

Tinnitus
Ringing, clicking, or roaring sounds in the ear. Causes include nerve deafness, medicines, noise exposure. Treatment includes counseling, retraining therapy, medicines.

Tympanoplasty
Surgery to repair perforated ear drums using body tissue. Improves hearing and reduces infections.

Mastoidectomy
Performed for cholesteatoma (bone-eroding ear infection). Removes infected bone and improves hearing.

Ossiculoplasty
Repairs or reconstructs the 3 tiny ear bones using natural or synthetic material. Done with an operative microscope.

Stapedotomy
Surgery for otosclerosis (hearing loss due to stiff stapes bone). Improves hearing significantly.

Facial Nerve Decompression
Surgery to relieve pressure on the facial nerve. Used in severe cases of facial nerve palsy.

Grommet Insertion & Myringopuncture
Small tube inserted in the ear drum to relieve fluid build-up, commonly in children with enlarged adenoids.
